Four books in as many weeks qualify for this finicky reader—one driven by mood and prone to bouts of boredom, staved off only with a flux of genres. Turning the last page of one book and wanting to instantaneously reach for another—written by the same author s —is a rare occurrence for me.

Like spotting a unicorn rare. Putting off the inventible book hangover, sure to be given as a token upon completion of that final unread Christina Lauren. With Dating You Hating Youthe dynamic writing duo brings their readers back to where it all started, well sort of. Similar to Beautiful Bastardthis is a workplace romance, just approached from a different angle. The couple battling it out within these pages meets prior to becoming colleagues and the underlying message is one that delivers a mighty girl power punch.

All of you muggles are sure to get a kick out of their accidental matching. Cue my inner giddy, giggly girl. The excitement buzzing around the possibility of their fledgling connection is quickly thwarted when the potential beaus find themselves pitted against one another. In a surprising turn of events, their firms merge, forcing the pair to compete for what might be only one position in the Features department, christina lauren dating xou hating you read online.

Despite the Hollywood setting and industry, Evie and Carter are both genuine people. I adored Evie for a host of reasons—namely, her backbone, dedication and all around positive nature in such christina lauren dating xou hating you read online vapid and undermining environment, christina lauren dating xou hating you read online.

It was more than just the nerdy glasses and ugly striped tie that got me, it was Carter himself. This time around, Christina Lauren underscores their signature FUN and sexiness with this powerful message: be your own advocates, ladies. Demand equal pay and recognition for your hard work. however, some of their usual swoon-worthy touch seemed to be missing in this book. the most noticeable difference was this story hardly focused on the relationship between the two main characters, meaning there definitely was not enough interaction between them to make a good contemporary romance book.

i understand this was an office romance, and that they were competing for the same position, but wow. i get enough of work in my own life. the last thing i want to do is read pages about someone elses job. goodness me. however, i will praise this book until the end of my days for honestly tackling the issue of double standards and the inequality of women in the workplace.

this not only highlighted just how difficult it can be for a woman in a field primarily dominated by men, but also demanded the need for it to change. the fact this relevant problem was included christina lauren dating xou hating you read online the book is the sole reason im rounding up my rating to four stars. overall, this wasnt a bad book. it was still funny and cute and very much entertaining.

it just unfortunately wasnt up to the standards that i usually expect from this author. View all 8 comments. If you are a fan of books that make you laugh out loud and the enemies to lovers troupe, this is a must read! Carter and Evie were set up by their mutual friends who were a hoot!

and really hit it off. It seemed like there would be a few dates and maybe even a relationship in their future.

Then the merger happened. Both of them are married to their job and 4 stars! Both of them are married to their job and when their jobs were on the line, things changed.

Hence the enemies to lovers story line. I think it was great to see this side of the corporate world. I thought the plot was very well done. Evie and Carter had so much chemistry and the story had just enough steam, christina lauren dating xou hating you read online.

It was highly entreating and a lot of fun to read! View all 25 comments. Jul 10, Always Pouting rated it really liked it · review of another edition. When Evie's friend sets her up with Carter, at a Halloween party, Evie is initially embarrassed but can't help but admit that they've hit it off.

Things get even more complicated when their firms merge and the two end up pitted against each other for the same position and it becomes difficult for them to reconcile their romantic feelings with the problems at work. I thought t When Evie's friend sets her up with Carter, at a Halloween party, Evie is initially embarrassed but can't help but admit that they've hit it off.

I thought the book was cute, and it's clearly aimed at a certain demographic of women but I don't care that I might not fall into it, christina lauren dating xou hating you read online, I still enjoyed reading it.

It's a romance novel so I wouldn't read it expecting something deep but that said I thought that all the back and forth between Carter and Evie was really well done and their relationship developed in a way that made it feel really natural instead of the usual love at first site crap.

Also I love Evie and how she bought 3 doughnuts to eat in the morning like literally me too man. I also thought the portrayal of work place sexism was pretty well done and Carter's eventual realization of what was happening and attempts at acknowledging it and trying to help was pretty cool. Any thing to do with -isms is hard to execute in a way that doesn't seem annoying and preachy but I think the book did a pretty good job here.
